Families from Bexley and Greenwich boroughs gathered for a fantastic Easter celebration as the Shooters Hill Community Easter Egg Hunt launched last week, bringing smiles, laughter and plenty of chocolate in the spring sunshine.

The free community event was the first of it’s kind for Jennings & Barrett; Held in association with Severndroog Castle and supported by Eltham Library, around 65 families with children under the age of 12 joined the search for over 1,400 chocolate eggs.
Over three hours and split into two “time slots”, children were able to make Easter Baskets, search for the brightly coloured eggs, and join other crafting activities within a fun, lively and welcoming atmosphere.
“It was wonderful to see so many local families coming together and enjoying such a simple but joyful community experience,” says Jennings & Barrett’s Head of Sales, Katie Shaw. “Events like this remind us how important shared spaces and local connections are.”

Many attendees praised the thoughtful organisation and friendly atmosphere, with several already asking if the event will return next year.
Feedback is being encouraged from all event attendees, with a prize draw offered to incentivise guests to share their experience of the Easter Egg Hunt on social media and to encourage reviews of Severndroog Castle on Google Maps.
With baskets full and spirits high, the Shooters Hill Community Easter Egg Hunt proved to be a highlight of the Easter weekend — and a clear reminder that community events continue to play a vital role in bringing people together.

About the Organisers:
Severndroog Castle is an 18th Century Gothic Tower, surrounded by Oxleas Woodland in Shooters Hill. The Castle was restored by volunteers through the Severndroog Castle Building Preservation Trust, which continues to maintain the attraction and keep it open to visitors.
The Castle’s Viewing Platform, open 10am – 3pm on Sundays, provides panoramic views across London and the surrounding Counties.
