To celebrate the arrival of Spring and the event of Easter – a time of renewal – Jennings & Barrett’s Estate Sales Team are holding a community Easter Egg Hunt in association with the wonderful team at Severndroog Castle.
This free to join Easter Egg hunt will take place between 12pm – 2pm on Thursday, 9th April 2026 at Severndroog Castle, Shooters Hill.
Aimed for young families from our communities in Shooters Hill, The Royal Borough of Greenwich, and the London Borough of Bexley, this egg hunt provides Easter Entertainment and a chance to indulge, in a unique setting!
About Severndroog Castle
Severndroog Castle is a local landmark.
Built in 1874, this beacon honours Commodore Sir William James. His wife, Lady Anne James, built it as a memorial. The Severndroog Castle Building Preservation Trust now maintains it. It is now a Grade II listed building open to the public.
Visitors can enjoy:
- Exploring the surrounding woodlands.
- Relaxing and indulging in its tea-room.
- Learning about the castle’s romantic history.
- A wide range of events!
The Castle’s viewing platform is currently closed to visitors – but we recommend signing up to their mailing list so that you can benefit from its panoramic views once it reopens!

Is the event really free?
Yes! We just ask that you register in advance, so that we can plan enough eggs, and crafts, for everyone.
Do I need to register?
Yes – registration helps us to manage numbers, prioritise local families, and keep the hunt fair.
It also lets us send you relevant updates as necessary.
You’ll need to register a ticket for each adult and child you intend to bring along, and to select your time slot accordingly.
What age group is the event for?
The hunt is designed for children under 12 and their families. Older ages are welcome to attend, but we ask that all attendees be mindful that this event is designed for younger ones, who may not be as fast to find their share of eggs.
We ask that children are not left unattended.
What should we bring?
We suggest comfortable outdoor shoes, and weather-appropriate clothing – and something to drink (though there’s a café onsite for the purchase of any hot or soft drinks!).
What kind of eggs will be hidden?
We will be hiding mostly chocolate eggs, though a few surprise eggs will be available.
What other activities should we expect?
A crafting table will be available – for when you’re all chocolated-out!
Can adults join the hunt?
Adults are welcome to help the children they’re accompanying to find the eggs, but this event is designed for children to enjoy.
What if the weather is bad?
We’ll go ahead in light rain. If severe weather is expected, we’ll email all registered participants with updates or alternative plans.
Is the event accessible?
There will be some limits to access, though the event will occur within a confined and paved area of the Castle.

Can we bring pets?
Well‑behaved pets are welcome, as long as they remain on leads and are kept away from the egg‑hunting zones for safety.
